Store cladding packs flat and out of direct sunlight. (Only when temperature is between 5°C – 25°C)
- Fix cladding to minimum 25mm deep battens at maximum 400mm centres. !
- Provide minimum 25mm ventilation cavity from the bottom to the top of the installation. (this will be achieved by using 25mm cladding battens)
- Do not close the ventilation space at the top or bottom
- Start the cladding at a minimum of 150mm from the ground.
- Allow an expansion gap of 5mm between planks at board ends
- Fix using corrosion resistant 30mm x 3.5mm washer head screws
- Where possible, position screw at the centre of the fixing groove.
- Begin fixing at the centre of the cladding and work towards the ends.
- Clean cladding with a mild detergent that does not contain solvents or aggressive cleaning agents. Pressure washing is acceptable at half power.
- A Horizontal Break should be provided in the following circumstances: Where a cladding panel exceeds 6m in height, a horizontal break should be provided by use of a drip trim to facilitate ventilation openings above and below the break. Where the building regulations require a cavity barrier for the purposes of fire separation. Specific fire-stop proposed should be checked against local regulations. which may vary from region to region.
- A vertical break is sometimes required to comply with building regulations or at Existing movement joints.
